Don't get too attached to your characters, kids.
But that's now how I wanted to start. I suppose you could say that there are two ways to fairly approach an RP. One is the literate way which is like a round robin where everyone adds to the narrative in a literary fashion. The second way is to treat it as a literal roleplay, and in so doing limiting yourself and your character to his or her standpoint and awareness. While this is not terrible, it motivates some people to bend the story around themselves and their character, and that's just not good reading.
It's because people love their characters too much that they do these things. And it's selfish.
Or it could not be. Characters who click and can play off each other well hit it off and have fun. It's just like kids playing with toys in the schoolyard. And as such, it can turn into a sue-off. Of the Mary-Gary kind.
And that makes me tired and sick.
